Title: Planning in the Age of Large Language Models

Abstract: 

In a classical planning problem, we want to find a sequence of actions that achieves a given goal. In the last decades, symbolic methods have dominated the field. In this talk, we explore how language models are changing classical planning, and how they help us create better planning algorithms. In particular, we focus on how we can use LLMs to synthesize entire components of planning systems. We will study how to implement counterexample-guided synthesis for planners, and how we can use LLMs to create a planner that is guaranteed to produce optimal solutions.

Augusto B. Corrêa is a Junior Research Fellow at Christ Church college, University of Oxford. His research focuses on how to ensure that AI systems can plan and act reliably and correctly. His main interests are automated planning, the formal foundations of AI, and the intersection of classical planning and large language models.
