I am an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica, Automatica e Gestionale "A. Ruberti" , Sapienza - Università di Roma.

In March 2025, I got the National Scientific Habilitation (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) as Full Professor for sector 01/B1 (Informatica).

In June 2023, I got the National Scientific Habilitation (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) as Full Professor for sector 09/H1 (Sistemi di Elaborazione delle Informazioni).

RESEARCH STAYS

• From January to June 2012, I have been a visiting researcher at York University in Toronto (Canada), Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
• From June to August 2013, I have been a visiting researcher at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) in Toronto (Canada), Department of Computer Science.
• From October to November 2016, I have been a visiting researcher at University of Tartu in Estonia, Institute of Computer Science.

AWARDS

• My former PhD Student, Giacomo Acitelli was awarded with the Early Career Best Paper Award 2026 at SummerSoc 2026 (20th Symp. and Summer School on Service-Oriented Computing), for his work on Business Process Execution as a Service: Leveraging Automated Planning for Framed Autonomy in AI-Augmented BPMSs.
• My PhD Student Angelo Casciani was awarded with the Young Researcher Award 2026 at SummerSoc 2026 (20th Symp. and Summer School on Service-Oriented Computing), for his work on Neuro-Symbolic Conversational AI for Reliable Production Service Intelligence.
• My former PhD Student Simone Agostinelli won the Best Dissertation Award at 21st International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM 2023), for his PhD thesis on Synthesizing Software Robots from UI Logs in Robotic Process Automation.
