     \n\nBiografia: \n\nFull professor of Computer Science since November 2
 000. In the years 1992-1994 he has been as associate professor with the Sc
 hool of engineering of the University of Cagliari (Sardinia\, Italy)\, in 
 the period 1994-2000 he has been with the School of Engineering of the Uni
 versita' di Roma 'La Sapienza'. He is serving as the chair of the curricul
 a in electrical engineering\, telecommunication and computer engineering o
 f the Universita' di Roma 'La Sapienza' in the Latina campus.His research 
 interests are in artificial intelligence (AI) and its relationship with da
 tabases\, theoretical computer science and computer graphics. His main con
 tributions are in the analysis of the computational and semantic propertie
 s of the formalisms for commonsense reasoning\, with emphasis on non-monot
 onic reasoning and belief revision. In 1997 he was granted the AI*IA award
  that is offered by the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence to
  the best young researcher in the field of AI. He published over 60 papers
 \, approximately 20 of them on the most prestigious journals of his area. 
 He is member of the editorial board of 'Artificial Intelligence Journal' a
 nd has been in the editorial board of the 'Journal of Artificial Intellige
 nce Research' in the years 1998-1999. He has taken part to several interna
 tional research projects and has coordinated italian MIUR\, CNR and ASI pr
 ojects. He is currently the coordinator of the Rome unit of the european p
 roject MAGICSTER\, the FIRB 2001 project ASTRO and a COFIN 2002 and 2004 p
 roject. In the period November 2005 till February 2010 he was the Presiden
 t of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA).\n\nInter
