Thus\, shifting the attention to data has been proposed as one of the most timely topics in AI research\, under the name of Data- Centric AI. Arguably\, the field of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KRR)\, and in particular its connection to the area of Data Management ( DM)\, can provide important contributions towards shaping the research on Data-Centric AI. Nelle suddette aree di ricerca\, ed in particolare nei campi delle basi di dati\, della modellazione concettuale di applicazioni\, della rap presentazione della conoscenza\, della integrazione dei dati\, e della mod ellazione e della composizione di servizi\, ha fornito nel corso degli ann i contributi scientifici fondamentali\, per i quali è considerato uno dei massimi esperti a livello internazionale. Per l’eccellenza dei risultati d i ricerca ottenuti ha ricevuto prestigiosi riconoscimenti a livello intern azionale: è Fellow dell’ECCAI (European Coordinating Committee for Artific ial Intelligence) dal 2008\, Fellow dell’ACM (Association for Computing Ma chinery) dal 2009 e membro della Academia Europaea dal 2011.\nNell’area de lle Basi di Dati\, ha prodotto risultati di primaria importanza nella inte grazione di schemi e nella modellazione concettuale mediante i modelli sem antici. Nell'area dell'Intelligenza Artificiale è uno dei fondatori della ricerca sulle Logiche Descrittive (Description Logics)\, nata a metà degli anni '80\, e considerata attualmente di cruciale importanza nello svilupp o di tecnologie orientate alla semantica (Semantic Web) per la modellazion e di ontologie. Nell'area della integrazione dei dati ha prodotto risultat i fondamentali sia relativamente alla classificazione e alla caratterizzaz ione delle diverse architetture\, sia relativamente alle tecniche di rispo ste alle interrogazioni. Il gruppo guidato da Maurizio Lenzerini è conside rato tra i leader internazionali di quest'area di ricerca. Infine\, nel ca mpo della progettazione e realizzazione di software a componenti\, ha forn ito importanti contributi sia nella modellazione dei servizi\, sia nell'am bito della composizione automatica. In queste aree ha coordinato diversi p rogetti Europei. Per le competenze e la eccellenza nel campo della integra zione dei dati e servizi\, Maurizio Lenzerini ha vinto due SUR (Shared Uni versity Research) grant IBM nel 2003 e nel 2005\, il premio Sapienza Ricer ca nel 2009\, ed un IBM Faculty Award nel 2008\, ed è stato relatore invit ato in numerose conferenze internazionali.\nÈ regolarmente membro del Comi tato di Programma delle più importanti conferenze internazionali dei setto ri di interesse.
