 ent an overview of my research activity on the control of nonlinear system
 s under sampling. Albeit most plants evolve continuously over time the des
 igned control laws are implemented through digital devices and sensors acq
 uire only partial information on the system behavior. In both cases\, thos
 e equipments act over discrete-time instants in a synchronous or synchrono
 us way so making the necessity of a suitable control design unavoidable. T
 hose classes of systems are generally referred to as sampled-data systems 
 in the sense that they combine discrete and continuous-time evolutions. Ro
 ughly speaking\, measures of the output are available only at sporadic dis
 crete-time instants while the control is piecewise constant over a fixed t
 ime interval (the sampling period). In this context\, based on the so-call
 ed sampled-data equivalent model describing the evolutions at all sampling
  instants\, new control laws are proposed for classes of nonlinear systems
  based on the new geometrical and physical properties induced by sampling.
  Then\, the case of dynamics affected by time delays is considered by high
 lighting the advantages of sampling to overcome several pathologies that a
 re typical for purely continuous-time retarded systems. Finally\, a brief 
 sketch on more recent activities concerning hybrid and nonlinear dynamics 
 evolving over graphs is given.  Short bio: Mattia Mattioni received his Ba
 chelor Degree (Laurea) and Master of Science (Laurea Magistrale) in Contro
 l Engineering from La Sapienza\, Università di Roma (Italy)\, both Magna c
 um Laude. In 2015\, he received the double degree for the Master de Recher
 che en Automatique\, Traitement du Signal et des Images (M2R ATSI)  throug
 h the bilateral agreement STIC&A with Université Paris-Sud. He received th
 e PhD in System and Control Theory in 2018 from La Sapienza\, Università d
 i Roma (Italy) and Université Paris-Sud (France) through a joint program w
 ith DIAG 'A. Ruberti' (La Sapienza\, Università di Roma) under the supervi
 sion of Salvatore Monaco and Dorothée Normand-Cyrot. In 2019\, he was reci
 pient of the Premio SIDRA 'Miglior Tesi di Dottorato 2019” for the best It
 alian PhD Thesis in Automatica. In 2019\, he was also finalist for the Pri
 x des meilleures thèses du GDR MACS et de la Section Automatique du Club E
 EA for the best PhD Thesis developed in a French University.  Since 2018\,
  he has been a post-doctoral fellow (assegnista di ricerca) at DIAG 'A. Ru
 berti' (La Sapienza\, Università di Roma). His research is mainly concerne
 d with hybrid systems\, networked systems and nonlinear systems under samp
 ling and time-delays.
