Fabio Ciccarelli obtained his Master's degree cum laude in Management Engineering (curriculum in Decision Models for Management Engineering) in October 2023 from Sapienza University of Rome, defending a thesis on Train Dispatching optimization under the supervision of Prof. Laura Palagi. Since November 2023, he has been a Ph.D. student (XXXIX cycle) in Automatics, Bioengineering and Operations Research (ABRO), Operations Research curriculum (MATH-06), supervised by Prof. Fabio Furini.
His main study and research interests concern integer programming and combinatorial optimization, with a strong focus on packing and graph problems. His recent scientific output involves the development of mathematical models and exact algorithms for various classes of problems. The topics addressed in his latest works include variants of the Bin Packing Problem and the Knapsack Problem, the k-Vertex Cut problem, Timetabling optimization in the healthcare sector, and the optimal sizing of energy storage systems for railway transportation.
