Corso di Human Computer Interaction

Consorzio interuniversitario CINECA

Febbraio - Marzo 2016

Obiettivi del corso

The course of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a four-days course that will introduce the basic principles of HCI, which studies the interaction between people (users) and computers occurring at the user interface, and the main techniques of the User-Centered Design methodology (UCD) to design interactive systems according to the end-user perspective. The course covers human capabilities, design principles, prototyping techniques, evaluation techniques, and the implementation of graphical user interfaces. The arguments are discussed ranging from thetheoretical and methodological foundations to more technological and practical aspects. Specifically, the course provides an overview of the most effective techniques to perform the analysis of the user and organization requirements, as well as to evaluate the system functionalities needed to satisfy such requirements. Then, the course focuses on the most innovative techniques to design highly usable user interfaces through interactive mock-ups and evaluate them with the actual end users through controlled experiments, on-the-spot tests and heuristics. The course will always focus on the current-day state of the art techniques being developed. During the course, a real case study will be presented from the European Project WORKPAD, which deals with emergency management.
