DESCRIPTION:Adriana WildeUniversity of WinchesterThursday 27\, 5 pm\, Aula
Magna @ DIAGIn this talk\, reflections on diverse past research are shared
\, which are all aspects of human-centric computing\, ranging from HCI and
the application of AI and machine learning onto health data\, as well as
considerations on teaching computer science topics. Fast-forwarding to now
\, with cybersecurity needing to be also human-centric\, there is much to
work on. Personal journeys do not always follow the pipeline model (leaky
or not)\, so a new metaphor is presented. The reflections are likely to pr
oduce a dialogue into increasing and promoting diversity and its societal
wider benefits.Adriana Wilde is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and
Cyber Security at the University of Winchester\, where she is the Programm
e Leader for all the Cyber Security courses and the Head of Ethics for the
Faculty of Business and digital technologies. She is also a founding memb
er of the WINTS research centre and an associate member of the Centre for
Information Rights (CIR). Adriana researches aspects of human-centric comp
uting and is a keen advocate for women in computing. Her background is mul
tidisciplinary with interests in education and technology. Following a B.C
ompSc.(Hons) degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela\, she obtained
several teaching qualifications from the UK\, including a Post-Graduate C
ertificate in Education (PGCE) in Post-Compulsory Education and Training\,
and taught in diverse educational environments\, including primary school
s\, further education colleges as well as universities. She completed an M
Sc in Computer Science by the Universities of Berne\, Fribourg and Neuchât
el in Switzerland (with a specialism in Distributed Systems)\, and was a M
ayflower Scholar for Electronics and Computer Science at the University of
Southampton\, allowing her to pursue a PhD whilst being a Teaching Fellow
in the same department. Other appointments include an Associate Lecturesh
ip at the University of St Andrews and service to ACM-W Europe.
